Abstract
The main objects of this work are to prepare the functional crosslinked chitosan(CH)-based biomaterial patches imprinted with atenolol (ATN) as the target drug. The crosslinked CH-based biomaterial patches were synthesized by casting method and UV curing process. Physical properties such as tensile strength (TS), elongation at break (%E), degree of swelling (DS), solubility (S) for prepared biomaterial patches were investigated. In addition, the surface morphology of the biomaterials was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). To evaluate the binding characteristics of prepared functional biomaterial patches added with/without the addition of ATN, the adsorption properties of the prepared films was investigated by equilibrium binding experiment. The results of the evaluation analysis indicate that the prepared functional biomaterial patches have the binding site for ATN as the target molecule. The ATN release for the transdermal patch was examined with pH and temperature. In addition, the release of ATN was carried out by using artificial skin. From the results, it could be verified that the prepared functional biomaterial patches can be applied in functional medical patches.
